Installation Of the Bottom Valve - Tips

The bottom valve allows you to easily close and open the drain hole. The device is especially useful for bathtubs, bidets, shower cabins, and washbasins with overflow function.

Types of bottom valves

There are several types on the market:

  1. Click-clack. Works on the principle of pressing. One press closes the drain hole, the other opens it. Click-clack is easy to use, does not require additional levers or mechanisms. Suitable for installation on sinks, bathtubs, bidets.
  2. With a lever. Control is carried out using a lever, usually located behind the mixer. The lever raises or lowers the plug, regulating the flow of water into the drain. Often installed complete with mixers.
  3. With overflow. The valve has an additional hole to drain excess liquid, which prevents flooding.

The choice is determined by the washbasin model and the user's needs.

Installation of the bottom valve on the sink

Before starting the installation, you need to prepare the necessary tools. Next, you need:

  1. Clean the drain hole from dirt and dust, and dry it.
  2. Insert the device into the drain. Secure with a nut at the bottom, placing a rubber seal for sealing. Tighten the nut.
  3. Apply silicone sealant around the product for additional protection against leaks. Wait for the sealant to dry (several hours).

Required tools: wrench, screwdriver, rubber seals, silicone sealant.

Installing a waste valve on a countertop sink

For sinks of this type, it is better to use the click-clack type - it is easier to install and provides a beautiful appearance.

  1. Preparation: Check the dimensions of the sink opening. Usually the diameter is 45 mm.
  2. Installation: insert the click-clack into the hole, securing it from below with a nut and rubber bands. Make sure it is evenly positioned.
  3. Sealing: Apply silicone sealant around the hole, under the nut to prevent leakage. The sealant should be watertight.

Additional requirements in this option are for tightness and accuracy of installation.

Installing a foot valve with overflow

The devices prevent the bowl from overflowing. Procedure:

  1. Make sure the sink has an overflow hole.
  2. Insert the device into the drain hole, securing it with a nut and rubber gaskets. Connect the overflow tube to the sinkhole.
  3. Connect the tube to the plug.

Such options are especially useful if the user may forget about the water being turned on.

Installing a waste valve on a washbasin

Work order:

  1. Clean the washbasin, make sure it is the right size.
  2. Insert the device into the drain, secure with a nut and rubber seal.
  3. Apply waterproof sealant to the connection to the sink.

Usually, the product comes complete with a bowl.

Shower cabin floor valve

For shower enclosures, the devices act as a plug that prevents water leakage while showering. Installation is carried out in four steps:

  1. Check the drain for dryness and cleanliness.
  2. Insert, secure the device, and make sure the attachment is secure.
  3. Use a waterproof sealant to create a secure seal.
  4. Fill the tray with water, check the operation. The water should be retained with the plug closed, and drain freely with it open.

Installation requires special attention to sealing. Modern shower traps and drains are often equipped with plugs.

Bottom valve repair

Repair may be necessary if the device stops holding liquid or starts leaking. You will need:

  1. Determine the cause of the malfunction. You can replace worn parts by disassembling the structure.
  2. If the device is clogged with debris or scale, rinse with warm water to remove any dirt.
  3. Reassemble the structure, put it in place. Check its operation by filling the sink.

The right choice and installation will help avoid leaks and ensure a long service life for sanitary ceramics.
